ROBIE Quilt

Finished size: 54" X 54"
Robie: A Quilt Pattern in 6 Variations is inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Frederick C. Robie house in Chicago. As a kid growing up in Iowa, my mom would take me on frequent weekend trips to Chicago. On one such trip we took a tour of the Robie house and it has stuck with me ever since. I was amazed by the light, the angles, the detail, and the craftsmanship. Everything seemed to have its own special purpose and it was all put together with precision.
This quilt looks like it requires a lot of precision to make. While it does need careful sewing, it looks much more complicated than it is. The real fun of making this quilt is the endless possibilities in assembling and rotating the blocks. I’ve presented just six variations here, but there are many more possibilities. Have fun and play around with it!
